Vathres is one of the many projects of Alex Zethson, a Stockholm based keyboardist and composer, as well as the head of the Thanatosis label. It is an experimental post-rock big band with more of an orchestral lineup (including members such as Pain of Salvation and Meshuggah-bassist Gustaf Hielm and Cult of Luna-drummer Christian Augustin), that plays slow, ethereal and cinematic music. Barren landscapes of scratches, noises and distortion meet beautiful, gentle but on the other hand crushing compositions.
