The 11-member band Hakumba blends afrobeat with jazz and various world music influences. In addition to the five-piece brass section that defines the band’s sound, the numerous vocalists, diverse percussion instruments, keyboards, and guitars make their musical world both powerful and detailed. Danceability and complexity organically come together in their songs. The band has become a permanent fixture of Hungarian festival life in recent years, while their presence is also increasingly active internationally. They have performed at several European showcase festivals, including SXSW London, SHIP and PIN Music Showcase, and toured in Australia.
Wait, Do I get a say in? My life Is just a part of their endless war Why Do the people with the power always cause harm It’s time To shout your lungs out (shout your lungs out) Do I get a say in? Tell me, Do I get a say in? Please! Tame, Everything i’m sayin Try, Knockin’ friendly but unclosed door Cry For the ones who need to live with shaken souls Time, Shout your lungs out, shout your lungs out Do I get a say in? Tell me, Do I get a say in? Please! Wars would be over if Politicians got sober. People’s souls get warmer when they establish the order. Wars would be over if Politicians got sober. People’s souls get warmer when they establish the order. If unity is global We don’t need no border Close your eyes, go to sleep, Forget you’re still a soldier
Let Go Let Grow Let Be Let Free Let Go You wanna let go, but you don’t want to say goodbye You wanna let go, but you don’t want to say goodbye You wanna let go, but you don’t want to say goodbye I wanna love you, so i will need to let you fly I wanna love you, so i will need to let you fly I wanna love you, so i will need to let you fly
Fragments of gold Falling on my skin soft and bold Water and sand Lace-wing landing on my hand Whispers in bloom Petals speak secrets to the moon Roots in my chest Growing wild where silence rests Time drips like dew On marbled leaves of silver-blue Heart of the land Nothing ever happens as planned
